Cleanse Day #4

Yesterday, was another successful cleanse day. This is going very well and I feel great.

In the morning, I had my cup of warm water with lemon. Then, for breakfast, I ate a couple of the Mini Vegetable Frittatas that I made yesterday. They are so delicious and filling.

For lunch, I made myself another Burrito Bowl. What can I say, I love salad, black beans and grilled chicken with some fresh pico. I love the Burrito Bowls at Chipotle.

As a snack, I had a Brown Rice Cake with Almond Butter, a new favorite snack of mine.

For dinner, we made Turkey Lettuce Wraps, Asian Style. The kids and I love these lettuce wraps, they are so full of flavor and they are very light. We ate them with a side of Broccoli with Garlic Sauce.

In the evening before bed, I had a cup of tea. That about wraps it up for our fourth day.

Today is Valentine’s Day and Mike and I have plans to go out so I think I’m going to officially call it a “cheat day” and have some wine and dessert. It’s ok, though, I am enjoying our cleanse days and now my cousin has decided to join us so my friend and I are extending our cleanse days to support her. ¬†Until Monday… Happy Valentine’s Day.

Cleanse Day #3

We are on the third day of our Ten Day Cleanse by Dr Oz and it’s going great. I can already feel the difference, lighter and less appetite. Plus, everything I eat just tastes really great and I don’t crave as much of the stuff I can’t eat. Although, when I was baking Valentine cookies for the kids to bring to their friends at school, they smelled SOOOOO good!

I started the day with a cup of warm water with lemon. Then, for breakfast I made these Vegetable Mini Frittatas with red and green peppers, turkey bacon and quinoa. Delicious. I love eggs and especially eggs with turkey bacon and it’s all part of the plan. I made them in a muffin pan so they were super cute and convenient to take on the go. Just pop one or two or three in your mouth and go. The kids took some today for lunch too.

The frittatas filled me up until late in the day so I only had a smoothie, a Chocolate Almond Smoothie, as an afternoon snack, followed a little later by an apple.

For dinner, I made myself a Burrito Bowl, with black beans, lettuce, grilled chicken and some fresh pico salsa. At bedtime, I was a little hungry, so I fixed myself a Brown Rice Cake with Almond Butter, yum. I know that I”m not supposed to eat anything after 8pm but I was very hungry and since I am still nursing Benny, I just had to have a little something and that seemed to hit the spot.

So, the days are going pretty quickly. The challenge will be this weekend since it’s Valentine’s Day on Saturday and we have a family birthday party on Sunday! Until tomorrow…

Cleanse Day #2

Good Morning. Yesterday was another successful day of our Dr Oz 10 day cleanse. I was still a bit hungry in the evening right before bed, but I just drank more water and went off to sleepy town.

Here is a quick run down of our meals yesterday.

In the morning, I started again with a warm cup of water with fresh lemon. Great way to start the day! Then for breakfast, I made myself a Cherry Banana Smoothie, yum!!! I love cherries and now that I discovered you can buy frozen Organic Cherries at Whole Foods, I get them all the time. Benny loves them too. They are great for smoothies.

Again, I drank a cup of Decaf Green Tea with lemon in between breakfast and lunch and had a handful of raw organic almonds.

For lunch, I had some leftover Chickpea and Swiss Chard Stew over Quinoa. It was very satisfying and after a small bowl, I felt full. Then, Benny and I went off to run some errands. When we returned home, I had an Organic Honeycrisp Apple again, yum. These apples from Whole Foods are the bomb! Then, right before dinner, my tummy started rumbling so I had a brown rice cake with a little Almond Butter. That curbed my hunger until dinner and it was yummy.

For dinner, I made a delicious Indian feast, Chickpea and Cauliflower Coconut Curry and served it over a little bit of Brown Wild Rice. It was perfect and so flavorful. I think we’re going to eat that again tonight for dinner!

Again, I tried to keep up on drinking lots of water. It’s best to carry around a water bottle everywhere you go, that way you are guaranteed to drink it.

Hope you’ll try some of these recipes, they are very delicious and your family will love them. Until tomorrow.

Cleanse Day #1

Yesterday was our first day on Dr Oz’s Ten Day Cleanse. It was easy and we had some yummy, healthy food. Although, I have to admit I was hungry at the end of the day, because you’re not supposed to eat after 8pm and I love to have my bowl of cereal before bed. I drank a glass of water instead.

Here is what we had for the day.

I started the morning with a warm cup of water with lemon. Then, made myself a Chocolate Almond Smoothie. It was DELICIOUS! That smoothie tastes like chocolate dessert, it’s so good. It’s being added to my list of favorite smoothies.

For lunch, I made this protein packed Burrito Bowl. Bottom layer with black beans, followed by shredded romaine lettuce, topped with cajun spiced grilled chicken. Then I made an avocado cream sauce with an avocado, greek yogurt, fresh cilantro, fresh lime juice and salt. YUM. I also added some spicy salsa to my burrito bowl because I didn’t have any fresh pico, although that’s what I would have preferred.

Snacking during the day, I had an organic Honeycrisp apple (my favorite type of apple) and some raw organic almonds. Plus, I drank a cup of decaf green tea and lots of water. That seemed to keep me satisfied until dinner.

For dinner, we had a Creamy Tomato Soup alongside a slice of Socca bread. I used Greek Yogurt to make the tomato soup creamy instead of heavy cream and Socca bread is made with just four simple ingredients, chickpea flour, water, olive oil and salt! Since I couldn’t use butter for my bread, I just drizzled a little olive oil on top and rubbed some fresh garlic as soon as it came out of the oven. I think next time I’ll add the fresh garlic and rosemary into the mix, yum. I just love Creamy Tomato Soup.

That’s about it. Very simple, very satisfying. I’d love to hear from you on how your journey on the Dr Oz cleanse is going too. Until tomorrow.
