Our first recipe for the Fall Season

Pumpkin Bundt Bread w/Maple Glaze…. perfectly sweet and satisfying… you would never know it’s made with gluten free flours such as oat flour and almond flour, sweetened with pure maple syrup and a bit of coconut sugar and completely vegan!

Summer is here!

In just a few short days…. our 2nd summer cooking camp will commence!

The kids will be cooking with fresh summer ingredients and making delicious, nutritious foods that all will enjoy! We will bake sweet French crepes and serve them with mascarpone whipped cream and fresh berries….

Our Food Jules cooking classes teach kids how to enjoy such a large variety of fresh, nutrient dense foods… teaching them the ease of cooking and baking delicious recipes… all while fostering relationships with new friends and healthy food.

We have some very exciting news to share… Food Jules was recently featured in Gluten Free Connecticut.

What a great website! Filled with information on Gluten Free friendly Restaurants, Bakeries, Facilities, articles on workshops and classes for those with Celiac or Gluten Sensitivities. It’s a dynamite resource for finding all the information you need when on a Gluten Free diet. It’s also a great place to learn about other food allergies.

Summer Cooking Camp is Back!

This Summer 2017… Miss Liz is again offering our Food Jules Summer Cooking Camp!

Who says food can’t be NUTRITIOUS and DELICIOUS?

Join us as we celebrate the beauty of the Summer Season with mouthwatering farm to table dishes using this summers’ harvest. Students will work in teams to create a variety of dishes using seasonal fruits and vegetables. They will learn about nutrition and healthy eating habits, all while fostering a love of wholesome food and cooking. We’ll cook breakfast foods, soups and salads, fun snacks and even decadent desserts! In one week, we’ll cook over 15 new recipes from Blueberry Crumb Bars to Fresh Tomato Bruschetta, Mango Peach Sorbet, Crepes, Thai Lettuce Wraps, Chocolate Fudge Pops and much more!

At the end of the one week session, all students will receive a recipe booklet so they can enjoy cooking and baking all of our delicious recipes at home. Reserve your spot now as classes fill up very quickly. Our maximum for each session will be 18 students, ages 7+.

Dates/Time: there will be two sessions: July 31-Aug 4 and August 14-18, 9:00-12:00

Cost: $275 per child (sibling discount, $275 for first child, $250 for each additional child)

Girl Scout Cooking Workshops

Food Jules is excited to announce that we are hosting a series of “Healthy Living” Cooking Workshops for the Girl Scout Troops. Starting in February, we will be offering classes for all levels.

Daisies (Kindergarten & 1st Grade) will learn how to cook “Fun and Healthy” foods that they can create at home for their families and prepare for school lunches.

Brownies (2nd & 3rd Grade) will learn how to cook and bake “Healthy Snacks”, learning new, creative and nutritious snack ideas for school.

Juniors (4th & 5th Grade) will learn how to prepare “Simple Meals” that they can enjoy at home with their families during family dinner night.

We even have classes for the older troops!

Cadettes (6th, 7th & 8th Grade) will learn “New Cuisines”, while also learning about the history and richness behind each new cultural cuisine.

Seniors & Ambassadors (High School) will learn how to prepare and host a “Dinner Party” learning fun, innovative new foods and techniques on how to prepare foods in a timely fashion for a party, using local fresh ingredients.

Butternut Squash Curry Soup

When the weather is cold outside…. you can warm up your belly with this flavorful, sweet and spicy Butternut Squash Curry Soup. It hits all the right spots!

This soup reminds me of a mix of Thai Coconut Curry and Indian Tikka Masala. The flavors from the curry powder, cumin, coriander and fresh ginger blended with coconut milk and the sweet Butternut Squash are fantastic. Plus, the bright orange color makes this soup absolutely gorgeous. Enjoy!
